PCS and Rittal introduce reactive current converter for grid-stable wind turbines at Husum WindEnergy 2012
System provider Rittal also exhibits the top-rated converters from Berlin
(PM) Berlin, 10.09.2012 - PCS relies on the high-quality electrical cabinets from Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, based in Herborn, Germany. Rittal, in turn, collaborates with PCS on the development of power converters so that the two companies can bring to the market a custom-tailored solution consisting of a reactive current converter and an electrical cabinet. That is why, at HUSUM WindEnergy 2012 from September 18 to 22, the PCS Green Line 1000 will be shown not only at the PCS stand (Hall 3, Booth 3A11), but also at the Rittal stand (Hall 2, Booth 2F19).Rittal, the system provider for housing and electrical cabinet technology from Herborn, Germany, decided to present the PCS Green Line 1000 reactive current converter at HUSUM because this combination displays how the intelligent integration of electrical cabinets and power converters can support grid stability in wind turbines. The two companies developed the solution in collaboration and both accompany it through the entire product lifecycle. By promoting standardization and a modular design, in addition to their many years of experience in the field of wind energy applications, the two companies have made an important contribution to sustainably reducing costs for the manufacturing of wind turbines.First-class referencesThe standard electrical cabinets from Rittal protect the modularly designed, IGBT-based four-quadrant converters from PCS. Together, Green Line 1000 and Rittal electrical cabinet technology constitute a proven system that has been put to the test not only in Germany but also in the largest test wind farm in China (CEPRI), often under the most extreme climate conditions. 51 Green Line 1000 units are currently in use at the Suzlon wind farm in Spain. 13 units have been installed in Germany with SDL certification by e.n.o. energy. And in South Africa’s largest wind project, 66 units are used in Suzlon S88-type wind turbines, each with 2.1 MW output. The two companies will seek to convey this extensive experience to the visitors at HUSUM.PCS – A dynamic team with a wealth of experiencePCS is an independent manufacturer of power converters with a wealth of experience, approximately 240 qualified employees and a turnover of EUR 63 million. The electrical equipment produced by this Berlin-based company has proven itself more than 70,000 times over – under the harsh conditions of railway use as well as for the highly-dynamic requirements of industrial use. Since 2005, PCS has also made sure that there is a fresh breeze for power generation from wind energy – with products in more than 1,500 wind turbines.
